Studio

Emotions: To be among friends is a great feeling, and to learn how to dance among friends is even more rewarding. We created our studio’s layout with this feeling in mind. We based our drawings on the imaginative walls of several schools in Ecuador, and then we embraced the building itself (a typical Toronto building from the 60’s – 70’s) and let it’s natural beauty shine through.

Back at Home: The schools are built with different materials depending on which region of the country the school was built. If we are in ‘la costa” during the very hot days of summer the ceilings are of wood and tin, or wood and concrete, or wood and bamboo. And if we are in “la sierra” along the Andes, the materials are adobe with tails or bricks with clay.

Architecture: Our exposed ceilings show the energy of raw wood trapped inside beams. Framed by modern colors on the walls, the ample space of our loft-like studio resembles salt and sweet underwater colors. Edgar grew up in the rivers of the Andes and worked in Australia for a pearling company, so his experience under the water is a mix of continents, something out of this world. Freedom and courage are the main elements you need to be under the water. That is the feeling we want you to achieve.

Feelings: The ambience within the studio walls is warm and filled with emotions from the past owners and the history of the building, and the new renovations revitalizing the space by it’s new owners.

Dimensions: The studio measures 2400 sq feet, with high ceilings with exposed wood making it appear even bigger. The natural light reaches every space in the studio, and the beautiful bamboo dance floor, washrooms, changing rooms, showers, and very cozy pieces of furniture give personality to the space.

Location: The studio is easily accessible by TTC, and has large south-facing windows. The space is clean and bright, and the energy is both fresh and homey. The studio is available for all kinds of functions, workshops, rehearsals and gatherings.
